Microdermabrasion

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a nonchemical, noninvasive procedure that uses a spray of microcrystals to remove the outermost layer of dry, dead skin cells and reveal younger, healthierlooking skin. Microdermabrasion also encourages the production of a new underlying layer of skin cells with higher levels of collagen and elastin, which further improves your skin’s appearance. Microdermabrasion is much gentler than dermabrasion. Dermabrasion is a more intensive procedure used to treat deeper facial lines, extreme sun damage, and scars.

Candidates

Patients with fine facial lines or wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, uneven pigmentation, clogged pores, skin texture problems, or minor scars are good candidates for microdermabrasion. Patients with rosacea or acne may also benefit from microdermabrasion treatments. The gentle spray of microcrystals can eliminate or improve skin imperfections and conditions by removing the upper layer of dead and damaged skin cells to reveal new, fresh skin.

Who Is Not a Good Candidate?

Microdermabrasion is not recommended for people who have deep scars, active keloids, undiagnosed lesions, a recent herpes outbreak, warts on the face, active acne (stages 3 and 4), an autoimmune system disorder, or unstable diabetes. Pregnant women should not undergo microdermabrasion. Candidates who have had a recent chemical peel or other skin procedure such as collagen injections should wait a two to three weeks before undergoing microdermabrasion. Prospective patients should also refrain from waxing or tanning the skin to be treated for a few weeks before microdermabrasion treatment. Individuals with deep scars, facial creases, or other moderatetosevere skin defects should consider a stronger treatment such as a chemical peel, dermabrasion, or laser skin resurfacing.

Microdermabrasion for Acne

Microdermabrasion can be used to treat acne and the scars that acne causes. Microdermabrasion treatments can eliminate or greatly reduce the appearance of lighter scarring. However, for deep acne scars (known as "pock marks" or "icepick acne scars") microdermabrasion may not be able to provide desired results. Deeper scars can usually be effectively treated with dermabrasion or an acne chemical peel. Patients with active acne may also benefit from microdermabrasion treatments, which exfoliate the skin and clear clogged pores of oil and dirt. Because the polishing action of the crystal and the removal of skin cells can aggravate acne, however, a consultation with a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon is advised to help determine whether a patient's acne or acne scars can be effectively treated with microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion for Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic inflammation of facial skin characterised by redness, prominent blood vessels, swelling, and/or skin eruptions that look similar to acne. Microdermabrasion can be used to decrease the redness associated with rosacea. However, if you have been diagnosed with rosacea and are considering microdermabrasion, you should consult a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon prior to treatment because microdermabrasion can negatively affect active rosacea.

Permanent Hair Reduction

IPL Hair Removal

Permanent hair reduction that’s fast, safe and reliable. Sick and tired of shaving and waxing? IPL hair removal is a fast, gentle and effective way to remove unwanted hair with permanent results.

What is IPL?

Intense Pulsed Light is a technology where light is converted into heat energy. Treatments are like a very powerful camera flash lamp being held against your skin.

The selected light waves target chromophores (colour pigments) such as melanin in brown spots and freckles; and such as haemoglobin in broken or diffused blood vessels. The light waves can also target specific protein molecules in acne bacteria and in collagen. IPL treats all conditions without disruption to the skin’s surface.

What is the difference between IPL and Laser?

Lasers have been used in surgery for years. The IPL is an adaptation of the laser, more suited to the beauty industry. The biggest difference between laser and IPL, as far as treatment is concerned, is the coverage. The laser beam is very narrow, only covering a small spot at a time, while IPL coverage is several times the area, and therefore treatments are much quicker. The surface area of the Chromolite IPL applicator head is 7.5 square cm – one of the largest on the market.

Lasers produce light from one specific wavelength, or colour, for a very specific target. The light emitted from the IPL is composed of a spectrum of colours from different wavelengths, enabling selective photoabsorption (light absorption) to different targets. In other words, using the IPL is like using a group of lasers in a single treatment.

Permanent Hair Reduction: How does it work?

Intense Pulsed Light targets the colour pigment (melanin) in the hairs. Therefore white hairs can not be treated. Dark hairs on fair skin have the best and quickest results. Fair hairs will require extra treatments with lesser results. Caution is required when treating hairs on darker skins; this is explained below and would be discussed more fully during your consultation.

The hair growth cycle:

Hairs grow in constant cycles: Firstly hairs are actively growing, then they become dormant (resting), and finally they loosen and shed, only to be replaced by more new, actively growing hairs.

Only hair follicles in the active growth stage are disabled by IPL treatments. Hairs in the dormant stage of the growth cycle normally remain anchored in the follicles for weeks or months, depending on their location, but their follicles and associated hair germination cells are not disabled by IPL treatments. These follicles will be treated in subsequent sessions. This is why you need repeated sessions. Hair growth becomes sparser with each session. All treated hairs should shed within about two weeks.

What happens at my appointment?

Consultation and Test Patch:

Your first appointment will be a comprehensive consultation to answer all your questions and to check that there are no contraindications to IPL treatments, such as medications which cause photosensitivity, and to ascertain the degree of recent sun or UV exposure on the area to be treated.

The colour of your skin and the condition to be treated must be assessed, then a calculation is made to determine the appropriate setting. A patch test will be applied and we must wait to see the outcome. Some conditions only require a few minutes wait, while others will require a separate appointment of up to 48 hours after the test patch. It is very important to be honest about medications and your recent sun or UV exposure. Clients with photosensitivity problems may develop some adverse reactions such as blistering or mild burning sensations. Your first test patch flash will be set on a low setting in order to avoid this. The setting may be raised if appropriate.

All Treatments:

The treatment area is reassessed, wiped with a mild antiseptic lotion to remove all traces of oils, etc., and ultrasound gel is then applied. Both the operator and the client will wear glasses to protect their eyes from the bright flashes of light, then treatment may commence. The flash light lamp at the head of the hand piece is held against the client’s skin and the intense light is pulsed at the trigger of a button. The lamp is moved to cover the entire area, with a minimum of 2 seconds between each flash. Once the treatment is completed the gel will be wiped off and a cooling gel will be applied, plus sun block where appropriate.

Hair removal treatments:

If your appointment is for hair removal; in areas of course hair growth the treatment area is obvious, but sometimes it is not so obvious, so it is therefore appropriate to allow the hairs to grow just a little, so that the operator may clearly see the area needing treatment. This area will then need to be shaved before your IPL treatment begins, because it is imperative that the light is targeted down the hair shaft to the bulb. We don’t want to treat (and heat) hairs on the skin’s surface. Where the treatment area is obvious, you may shave the hair yourself before you arrive for your appointment.

Is it painful?

Some treatments have little or no sensation at all, but for other treatments, clients may feel a slight sting, similar to the flick of a rubber band against your skin. It is certainly not unbearable, and we can always reduce the intensity if you feel the need. Immediately after some treatments you may feel a mild heat for a few minutes, or a couple of hours, but after most treatments you will feel next to nothing at all.

How will I look after the treatment?

Immediate Response:

In most cases there is no visible reaction and you would be expected to be able to return to work and resume your normal activities immediately after your appointment. However, IPL causes heat in the target tissues; therefore it is quite acceptable for the area to be slightly reddened immediately after treatment, but this would normally dissipate within half an hour. It is possible for the skin to appear slightly red for a couple of hours and up to 24 hours. If a reaction is visible after 48 hours it is imperative to contact your IPL operator for further advice. For those people concerned about wearing makeup immediately after treatment; provided there is no adverse reaction, (which is very rare), we can apply a mineral foundation to your face after your sun block.

After hair removal treatments is also common to see a slight swelling at the mouth of each hair follicle, similar to goose bumps. This appearance should disappear within the same frame time as with reddening. Please note: In darker skinned people, these responses may be delayed for up to 24 hours.

Important Before Care:

Sun exposure and tanning:

You can NOT be treated if you have had ultra violet (UV) exposure from the sun or sun beds within the past 4 to 6 weeks. Therefore prior to your treatments you must cover well with clothing and hats and sun block to prevent extra activity of the melanin cells in your skin. Melanin cells are responsible for tanning. Your tan slowly ‘wears off’ as those cells reach the surface of your skin in the normal skin shedding activity, known as skin renewal.

Fake tans stain the outer skin cells, and this colour will intensify the IPL heat at the surface of the skin, therefore we cannot treat with IPL for at least two weeks after a fake tan application.

Waxing, plucking, threading:

For hair removal treatments, allow the hair to grow just a little, (2 mm is enough) immediately prior to your treatment day. It is advisable to shave between appointments, as waxing or plucking would remove the hairs that we are hoping to target in your next session. SHAVING DOES NOT CAUSE FUTURE HAIR GROWTH TO GROW MORE RAPIDLY OR TO BECOME COARSER. Only the actual shaved hairs will become coarser, but they will shed, and new growth will be normal.

Bleach or depilatory creams:

These products should not be used for at least one week before IPL treatments. AHA Creams, Glycolic or Salicylic Peels.

Important After Care:

For 24 hours after each IPL treatment:

  • No sun exposure or UV exposure of sun beds
  • Wear sun block with both UVA and UVB protection
  • No depilatory, AHA, glycolic or salicylic creams
  • No very hot baths or showers – tepid water only
  • No heat treatments e.g. sauna
  • No swimming in chlorinated pools or spa baths
  • No deodorant – if underarms treated
  • No perfumes, highly perfumed soaps or lotions, etc.

Long term After Care:

  • Always wear a good sun block with both UVA and UVB protection
  • Avoid excessive sun or UV exposure. Cover up and be sunsafe.

Adverse Reactions:

  • Redness and swelling of the skin are normal. They are harmless effects which usually disappear within half an hour, but can occasionally be visible for two to thirty hours.
  • Tightening of the skin can sometimes be felt for one or two days.
  • In extreme cases blistering may occur, which heals in a few days. Cooling, healing gel or icepacks should be applied frequently to alleviate discomfort. Treat this situation as you would for sun burn.
  • Scabbing is possible after blistering. It is extremely important NOT to pick scabs off the skin, as they are protecting the underlying skin whie it heals itself. If you pick a scab off, the healing process will stop and you could be left with little pock marks.
  • If any signs of redness and swelling are still present after 48 hours of treatment, please contact the IPL operator for further advice. If your IPL operator cannot be contacted, a doctor, pharmacist should be able to give you appropriate advice. In the mean time, treat as sun burn.
  • Blanching or hyperpigmentation will only occur if strict guidelines regarding settings for the different skin types and colours have not been adhered to; OR if the client has not disclosed all contraindications, medications. or the full extent of their sun or UV exposure during the month prior to treatment. Usually blanching or hyperpigmented scars will heal and fade over weeks or months, but in extreme cases, especially on darker skins, they could be permanent.

Can Dark Skins Be Treated?

Light produced by laser and by IPL is absorbed by the colour pigment, melanin, which is present in our hair and skin. Caution is required when treating people with dark skins, Asian skins and some other skins which tan very easily. Hyperpigmentation or blanching of the skin is likely to occur if there is too much melanin present in the skin. It is possible to treat medium to medium/dark skins on a low intensity. The consultation process and a test patch, will determine whether each individual can be treated. Strict guidelines must be adhered to, when treating darker skinned people, using only low levels of intensity at each session, and therefore more treatments will be needed to achieve a result. Skins such as Negroid, Melanesian and some darker Indian skins are not treatable – for both skin rejuvenation and for hair removal. Electrolysis is an option for these people, but it too, must be administered with caution, on a low intensity, due to the possibility of hyperpigmentation or blanching.

Skin Rejuvenation

Skin Rejuvenation and Anti Aging

Many skin complaints caused by aging or sun damage such as redness, rosacea, age spots, freckles, fine lines and changes in pigment or skin texture can be treated with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). Our IPL system uses flashes of light that cause heat damage to dermal tissue layers without disruption to or removal of the outer epidermal layers of the skin. This procedure is usually described in the cosmetic industry as photorejuvenation, and can result in youthful, fresher-looking skin.

After a series of IPL treatments, your skin will look refreshed and rejuvenated, and you will experience improvement in the tone and texture of your skin. You will find a significant reduction of brown and red areas of discolouration, small red blood vessels (spider veins) and irregular areas of pigmentation. Pore size is reduced by one third. If you have rosacea or abnormal flushing, you will notice a reduction of your skin’s red discolouration.

FAQ – IPL Skin Rejuvenation

What is the IPL skin rejuvenation procedure? Following an initial discussion with our IPL practitioner to clearly establish your expectations, we will check your medical history with you to ensure there are no reasons for you not to have the treatment. We will ask you to sign a consent form to confirm that you have understood the potential benefits and risks associated with this

treatment. With your wellbeing in mind, we will always perform a patch test (an IPL treatment on a very small area of skin) prior to a full treatment, to rule out any sensitivities or adverse effects you may have in response to the treatment. Following this, we can then book a convenient time for you to return for your next and full session, normally with 48 hours.

Does it hurt? You will experience a slight sensation as the pulses of therapeutic light are passed over your skin. The sensation is mild and easily tolerated by most people.

What will my skin look like after the procedure? Your skin may look slightly flushed. This mild ‘glow’ will usually disappear after 24 hours. In some rare cases some swelling or superficial bruising or crusting may occur whilst the skin is rejuvenating to reveal a brighter and fresher new you!

Can I have a treatment while my skin is tanned? No. We prefer to treat the skin when it is closest to its natural colour. Any sun exposure should be avoided eight weeks prior to the treatments, and fake tanning should be avoided four weeks prior to treatment.

How many treatments are required? This really depends on your skin condition. Improvement can be seen with every treatment, although a course of five treatments about four weeks apart generally gives the best results.

How long do the results last? The results achieved from a series of treatments can be expected to last for several years or longer. Skin rejuvenation will provide benefits and will significantly reverse many of the visible signs of sundamaged skin. However, in time and with inevitable environmental exposure, our skin ages as we do. A series of treatments is initially required for best results, followed by occasional single maintenance treatments of around one to two a year.

How do I take care of my skin following the treatments? Most people will not require post treatment care. You should, however, completely avoid sun exposure for up to a week and then use a sunscreen with a minimum spf of 50 on the areas treated, as your skin will be extra sensitive for a few weeks following the treatment.

Please note that our IPL photo rejuvenation system is not suitable for all skin tones especially darker ones. Please contact us as we can suggest alternatives depending on the issue.

Radio Frequency

Radio frequency involves the use of radio waves that penetrate deep into the skin and affect the deeper dermis and subcutaneous layers, causing tightening and improvements to the underlying tissue structure. This results in firmer and more youthful looking skin. Totally non-invasive walkin, walkout procedure.

Skin tightening by radio frequency (RF)

Is a nonsurgical procedure that tightens the slack skin and makes the fine lines and wrinkles to look softer, giving the face a younger texture and sight.

How does the skin tightening treatment work?

The therapy is based on high frequency radio waves (RF) that heat the dermis and the collagen fibres of skin face in order to be contracted and the skin be tighter. Additionally, heating activate the fibroblasts to produce more new collagen and elastin fibres giving by this way a long duration skin tightening. The spectacular results (skin tightening, wrinkle reduction) gradually begin to appear within 2 months and are completed in 6 months. Results usually last till two years. The sessions are performed throughout the year, even during summer, as there is no photosensitivity problem. All ages and all skin types are suitable for this treatment.

Facial rejuvenation with Radio frequency

Radio frequency for facial rejuvenation involves the use of radio frequency waves that penetrate the dermis resulting in contraction of collagen and subsequent regeneration of collagen leading to skin tightening, with the gradual decrease in wrinkles. Radio frequency treatments require 4 to 8 sessions once per week being ideal.

Treatments priced accordingly by treatment area and single session or package sessions.

RADIO FREQUENCY SKIN TIGHTENING FAQ

How does Radio Frequency skin tightening work?

Radio frequency (RF) technology represents a new frontier for treatment of lax skin, fine lines, wrinkles and cellulite. Our treatments employ Bipolar radio frequency technologies to tighten both the very superficial layers of the skin and skin’s subdermal layer, which in other cases requires two separate procedures. The result is skin shrinkage, new collagen production and increased blood circulation, all of which provides lifting and tightening effects. You will notice a change in your skin that will appear immediately after the first treatment and will continue to improve for weeks to come. Lax skin will be firmer and more toned, not to mention healthier and younger looking, while wrinkles will be considerably reduced.

What does the Radio Frequency skin tightening procedure involve?

Radio frequency (RF) skin tightening treatment takes about 30 to 60 minutes depending on which areas are being treated. The client experiences sensation of warmth over targeted areas of loose skin, cellulite or fine lines or wrinkles.

Is there a recovery time after the Radio Frequency skin tightening procedure?

Radio frequency skin tightening is mainly popular due to its high efficacy and no recovery time. Your skin may remain slightly red for 30 to 60 minutes after the procedure. It may also feel somewhat dry for 24 to 48 hours after the treatment, but clients may return to their normal daily routine immediately.

How many treatments will I need?

We recommend a series of four to eight Radio Frequency Skin Tightening treatments, approximately one to three weeks apart, with the best effect being seen two to six months following the final treatment.

On what parts of my body will I benefit most from Radio Frequency skin tightening?

Radio Frequency (RF) technology can be used for skin tightening and lifting effects on anybody areas including face, upper arms, abdomen, back, thighs and buttocks. The most common treatments of the face are treatments for ageing and lax skin on the chin, neck, underneath and above the eyes, and for saggy brow lines. On the body, radio frequency technology is most commonly used for skin tightening, cellulite and stretch marks reduction.

Contraindications to RF skin tightening?

The therapy must be avoided to persons who suffer from collagen diseases, patients with pacemaker or defibrillator and malignant history.

Acne Therapy

IPL for Acne and Pigmentation

Acne is an occurrence of inflamed or infected sebaceous glands under the skin due to blocked hair follicles. The infected glands can appear on the face, neck, back and body which cause blemishes such as black heads and spots to appear on the surface of the skin, resulting in red, sore, breakouts which can leave scarring. AVANA offers acne sufferers a number of different treatments to suit their skin types, and to help address those concerns. Acne treatments can range from laser treatments to skin peels.

IPL is an ideal drugfree treatment for mild and moderate inflammatory acne, for which we get remarkable results. Acne is very often caused by internal factors such as hormonal imbalance, stress and food allergies. Ideally, the treatment should be combined with methods to deal with the underlying problem in order to clear the acne permanently. This is a wonderful treatment for clearing an annoying spot or boil, especially before an important event where looking good is essential. In this case it would be best to use the treatment a week before the special date. It is also great for anyone with permanent acne, as they will greatly benefit from regular treatments.

The innovative and advanced IPL system filters light from a flash lamp in two targeted ways to ensure that only light with the appropriate wavelength is allowed to reach the skin to prevent future acne. Haemoglobin, the red pigment in the blood, absorbs this light and heats up in the fine blood vessels that supply the sebaceous glands. This causes minor injury to the sebaceous glands, which decreases the overproduction of oil that leads to acne. This solution to dealing with acne is easy and essentially painless, as any potentially harmful wavelengths are filtered out by our advanced IPL system.

Preparation before a treatment. You do not need to do anything in order to prepare for treatments. However, in the weeks leading up to your appointment, it is important that you should avoid exposure to the sun, as your skin must be kept as pale as possible. This is to prevent too much light from being absorbed by a darker complexion.

Post treatment. Although there may be some redness on your skin after the treatment, people do not normally need any post treatment care. However, some people with more sensitive skin may ease any discomfort by applying ice or aloe vera to the area immediately after the treatment. In the case of sundamaged skin, some of the pigmented spots may become darker, but they will eventually disappear.

When we lose the ability to relax our body, feelings of sleeplessness can overwhelm us. Anti-stress massage uses effective relaxation techniques and soothing essential oils to offer indulgent stress relief. Nourishing oils soften the skin and relax your mind bringing you back into harmonious balance.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage is a form of massage therapy that follows the same principles of Swedish Massage with the addition of heated stones, which helps lead to deep relaxation. Adding heat to specific areas on the body enhances the feelings of relaxation and peace. Recommended in particular for individuals suffering from fibromyalgia, arthritis or other chronic pain. The penetrating effects of the heated stones allows the massage to be delivered without excessive pressure.

Trigger Point Massage (Deep Tissue)

Trigger points are sore, painful spots that occur in a muscle. Most people refer to trigger points as knots. They are called trigger points because they "trigger" a painful response that often refers pain to different parts of your body. Trigger Point Massage uses concentrations of finger pressure on each trigger point to prevent cycles of muscle pain and spasms. Trigger Point Massage provides benefits after just one session.

G5 works best in conjuction with our additions; including inch loss body wraps, steamy wonder steam canopy and thermodome.

Infrared Light Therapy

The emitted Infrared Light energy penetrates up to 3½ inches (8.75cm), and releases nitric-oxide into the haemoglobin, stimulating micro-circulation, delivering higher levels of oxygen and nutrients to the injured cells, while eliminating toxins and cellular waste. This begins the healing process as pain is relieved.

Treatment for Cellulite

This therapy is an all-natural solution to reduce cellulite (Cellulite is essentially pockets of water, toxins and fat being held under the skin. If you target these pockets with infrared waves, the waves will heat your body under the pockets and actually force the water out through your pores and eliminated the pockets and therefore the cellulite.)

Infrared Therapy for Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are both painful conditions that involve extreme swelling of the joints. The swelling of the joints occurs when the fluid filled sacks located between the bones and the joints become compromised, causing the bones to rub against each other.

Infrared light is a special light that is felt as heat when it touches the skin. The light helps with arthritic pain by penetrating deep into the blood vessels and tissues and gently heating the joints. As the blood vessels are heated, they dilate to allow for more blood flow to the affected areas. There are more benefits to infrared light therapy as well. The infrared light also increases oxygen levels, which stimulate white blood cells and collagen production. This is important as collagen is a necessary substance for repairing damaged joints. Infrared light therapy increases blood flow to the joints without raising your blood pressure or increasing your heart rate.

Other benefits of Infrared Light Therapy

This infrared therapy also help to relieve stiff backs and necks, reduces swelling, and promotes a healthy immune system and can help to detoxify your body. Infrared light therapy targets specific parts of the body with the wonderful healing powers of infrared waves. Infrared light therapy is an effective, tested treatment for any condition characterized by pain and inflammation. Here's just a partial list of conditions that benefit from treatment:

  • Arthritis
  • Back pain and neck pain
  • Bursitis and wounds
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Muscle sprains and strains
  • Rheumatoid arthritis

Also stop using any aggressive acids within the week of the procedure. You should arrive to your appointment with clean, dry skin (if not, the technician will wash your face so it's clean before the procedure). Next, you'll likely be slathered in numbing cream, so the pain won't be quite so intense.

What to Expect from Microneedling

Anti-Wrinkle

Whether you’re looking to remove fine lines and wrinkles or plump up your skin and add volume, AVANA Clinic is able to offer you a range of top treatments to satisfy your needs.

For facial rejuvenation without surgery (non-surgical treatment) we like to see you for a consultation to assess you. We often use a combination of anti-wrinkle injections and facial and dermal fillers such as Restylane® and Juvederm®.

The anti-wrinkle treatment that we use for you depends on what we talk about at the consultation. You can have wrinkle reduction treatment on the day of your consultation but you can also simply come for a discussion on wrinkle treatments and have your cosmetic injection some other time.

For facial rejuvenation and treatment of facial wrinkles, there are two types of fine lines that we have in our face: dynamic lines and static lines. Dynamic lines are those that appear when we make facial expressions and static lines are those that are present all the time.

Generally, we treat dynamic lines with muscle relaxing treatments. The medicines used include those that reduce the strength of muscle contractions, and we treat static lines with anti-wrinkle treatments such as Juvederm® and Restylane®. Please note, though, that we are offering you, our customer, a medical consultation and that this may or may not lead to the provision of a prescription for wrinkle reduction medicines. Wrinkle reduction with wrinkle removal injections often takes a week or two to start working completely and lasts for around four to six months. The two wrinkle removers that we therefore use are substances such as Botox® and Juvederm®.

Dynamic lines are often seen around the middle of the eyebrows (so called glabellar lines), around the outer areas of the eyes, on the upper side wall of the nose (bunny lines) and on the forehead when we frown (forehead lines). The anti-wrinkle treatment that we use for you depends on what we talk about at the consultation. You can have wrinkle reduction treatment on the day of your consultation but you can also simply come for a discussion on wrinkle treatments and have your cosmetic injection some other time.

A non-invasive clinical procedure, Botox is used to treat fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. It takes three to seven days from when the product is first administered for the full transformation to take place, at which point you’ll see deep wrinkles diminished and finer lines smoothed by the Botox injections. AVANA Cosmetic Clinic is the perfect base from which to take advantage of this popular procedure, it’s a great destination for a rejuvenating getaway.

Botox works by reducing the activity of muscles that cause wrinkles and frown lines, preventing lines that will become permanent over time. As a non-invasive treatment, Botox offers one of the easiest solutions against aging skin, as well as an effective preventative measure.

After a consultation with one of our practitioners to discuss whether the treatment will be appropriate to your needs, a few tiny injections are delivered to the surface of the skin to target problem areas. All our treatments are tailored to the wishes of the individual patient, so you can be confident that the outcome will align with your expectations.

All consultations and check-ups are free at AVANA Clinic. Check-up appointments can be made for up to three-four weeks after treatment, after which time they will no longer be available.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers are popular treatments for wrinkles and facial lines. They can also enhance lips and add definition to your chin and cheeks. It’s a natural, biodegradable gel that flows easily into your skin, instantly filling out those troublesome lines leaving a smooth and natural look and feel. So, you’ll notice an immediate difference after just one treatment. Smooth facial expression lines formed by moving the underling muscles. Treatment involves a number of small injections which are relatively comfortable and take approximately fifteen minutes to carry out.

Anti Wrinkle Injection (Botox)

Our wrinkle-relaxing injections are used to smooth facial expression lines formed by moving the underling muscles. The commonly-affected areas we treat are the forehead (frown lines) and the eyes (laughter lines or crow's feet), but we can also treat other areas of the face. We can soften neck lines and upper lip lines, correct a dimpled chin, lift the eyebrows, lift the corners of the mouth and reduce a gummy smile. The injections contain a protein derivative of botulinum toxin which when injected into the muscle blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscle preventing it from moving, relaxing the overlying skin and smoothing wrinkles. The treatment involves a number of small injections which are relatively comfortable and take approximately fifteen minutes to carry out. The results can be seen after approximately 6 days and can last up to six months.

There can be a few side effects of treatment - redness and sometimes bruising at the injection sites. This usually disappears after a few days.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a safe and highly effective physical exfoliation procedure. It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently "shave" the skin's surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair.

This is a great treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals absorbing into the blood stream and potentially harming your baby. is recommended for all skin types except those with acneic skin. If you have deep cystic acne, wait until breakouts are clear before trying this treatment. As always, also discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment.

There are no side effects and zero downtime. After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure and may already look very pink, so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.

Benefits of Dermaplaning:

  • Physical exfoliation of the skin
  • Trigger the cell regeneration process
  • Allow the products to better penetrate the ski
  • Removes the fine hairs (vellus hair) which - can often accumulate dirt and oil.

Meso Hair Loss

Mesotherapy is a non-invasive and non-surgical cosmetic hair restoration procedure which has been steadily gaining in popularity.

Superficial microinjections are inserted just below the epidermal layer of the skin into the appropriate tissues to stimulate the mesoderm layer in the skin, which lies at a depth of about 1mm beneath the surface, in order encourage the hair’s natural regeneration and proliferation process.

Mesotherapy treatment has now been used for decades to successfully restore luster and volume to thinning hair and to promote significant hair regrowth for both women and men who have experienced the beginnings of balding or Alopecia Areata.

The Hair starter kit by TOSKANI is designed to provide professionals from the beauty sector with the best selection of the most efficient products to carry out hair treatments. Micro-sclerotherapy

Small varicose veins and Spider veins are treated by sclerotherapy. A tiny needle is used to administer a series of injections that contain small amounts of a sterile solution into the vein. Because the needle is so small, patients do not need any anaesthesia and usually feel little pain. The solution displaces the blood within the diseased vein and causes the vein to collapse. The treated vein is absorbed and eventually becomes nearly invisible.

Although the same vein may require multiple injections over time, this injection procedure for each session can be performed in our clinic in less than 30 minutes. The total number of veins treated during one session will depend on the size and location of the veins as well as the overall medical health of the patient. Any follow up sessions will be scheduled at least four weeks apart so that the results of the previous treatment can be accurately evaluated.

Sclerotherapy is a form of treatment where a doctor injects medicine into blood vessels or lymph vessels that causes them to shrink. It is commonly used to treat varicose veins or so-called spider veins. The procedure is non-surgical, requiring only an injection. It can also be used to treat blood and lymph vessel disorders that cause these vessels to form incorrectly. Sclerotherapy uses an irritating solution called a sclerosant, which is injected directly into a vein or lymph vessel. The solution irritates the vessel, causing it to swell. This swelling cuts off the flow of blood or lymphatic fluid and the vessel shrinks. Various forms trusted source of sclerotherapy have been around since the 19th century, but techniques have improved in recent decades.

What conditions does Micro-sclerotherapy treat?

Sclerotherapy is most often used to treat varicose veins. Varicose veins are also known as chronic venous insufficiency. Varicose veins occur when the veins swell and bulge, usually in the legs. This is due to weak vein walls that, in turn, weaken the vein valves. As a result, blood pools up the veins, causing them to swell and look different. Varicose veins may be painful and can cause skin issues, including rashes. By shrinking the veins, sclerotherapy reduces the effects of vein damage, making varicose veins less visible and less painful.

Micro-sclerotherapy is also used to treat some other conditions, including:

  • Malformed lymph vessels. These are vessels that carry lymphatic fluid or lymph, which helps the immune system fight infections.
  • Hemorrhoids. Sclerotherapy may be used when other treatments fail. Hemorrhoids occur when blood vessels, surrounding the rectum, swell and become irritated, causing pain and making bowel movements uncomfortable.
  • HydrocelesTrusted Source. A hydrocele is an unhealthy development of fluid in a body cavity. Hydroceles are common in the testicles.

When to consider Micro-sclerotherapy?

Not everyone who has spider veins or another condition that can be treated with sclerotherapy needs to have the procedure. People should discuss their symptoms and treatment options with their doctor to decide if it is necessary.

Other treatments may be more affordable and less invasive. Hemorrhoids, for example, often respond well to nonprescription treatments. This can include lifestyle changes, such as eating more fiber and not straining when having a bowel movement.

People with spider veins should consider Micro-sclerotherapy when:

  • The veins are painful
  • The legs are sore or feel heavy
  • The skin on the legs or feet is patchy or dry
  • There is a rash near the veins

What to expect from Micro-sclerotherapy?

  • Sclerotherapy may be performed in the office of a dermatologist.
  • Sclerotherapy requires a consultation with a doctor to assess the problematic vein or lymph vessel.
  • Sclerotherapy for spider veins is usually performed in the office of a dermatologist or a vein specialist.
  • The procedure does not usually require anesthesia or any special preparation.
  • People should follow the doctor’s instructions before surgery since it might be necessary to avoid lotions or oils beforehand.
  • During the treatment, the person lies on their back with their legs up. A doctor cleans the area, then inserts a small needle into the vein.
  • The needle may pinch.
  • The doctor injects the vein with an irritating solution.
  • The individual may feel burning, tingling, or nothing at all. When the injection is complete, the doctor will massage the area to prevent blood from re-entering the vein.
  • The individual may need to wear a pad or compression stockings in the area.
  • In most cases Trust Source, someone will need follow-up treatment to collapse a vein fully.
  • If there are several varicose veins, numerous treatments may be the only way to get rid of them.
  • After the treatment, people should remain active to prevent blood clots from forming.
  • Most will also need to avoid sunlight, which can cause dark spots on the treated area.
  • Some people experience tenderness or bruising at the site of the injection, but recovery is otherwise relatively easy.

How long do Micro-sclerotherapy results last?

In most cases, they disappear within three to six months, but can be permanent about five percent of the time. Bruising may occur around the injection site and can last several days or weeks. In general, spider veins respond to sclerotherapy in three to six weeks, and larger veins respond in three to four months.

Is Micro-sclerotherapy safe?

All medical procedures have risks that should be considered carefully prior to embarking on a particular treatment. Since sclerotherapy is frequently used to treat cosmetic problems, untoward and dangerous side effects ought to be fully explained to the patient.

Does Micro-sclerotherapy hurt?

Because this procedure requires injections through the skin, it is not a painless procedure. Some chemicals that are injected (sclerosants) are more likely to cause pain than others. If the sclerosant is deposited outside the vein inadvertently, this is often more painful.

Is Micro-sclerotherapy an effective treatment for varicose veins and spider veins?

Sclerotherapy is an effective technique to obliterate or collapse veins. Other techniques include surgical removal of the offending vein, endovenous laser destruction (fiberoptic-transmitted laser light) and, for very small vessels, percutaneous laser light or intense pulsed-light exposure are also effective.

Who is a good candidate for Micro-sclerotherapy?

Those with venous insufficiency who have disease that is poorly controlled with compression stockings and who are not obese are ideal candidates for sclerotherapy. To determine if sclerotherapy obliteration is likely to be of benefit, the site of the defective vein is identified as well as the venous drainage pattern. Healthy people who complain of unsightly superficial veins of small caliber (4 mm or less) are also candidates for sclerotherapy.

How do people prepare for the Micro-sclerotherapy procedure?

Patients are screened using special ultrasound techniques to determine the site of venous disease prior to treatment. In situations where there is only a small area of Spider Veins, this is rarely done.

How does a doctor administer Micro-sclerotherapy injections?

There are now two FDA-approved sclerosants available, sodium tetradecyl sulfate (a detergent) and polidocanol (Asclera). For small veins, hypertonic saline is occasionally used. Depending on the size of the vein to be treated, the sclerosant may be administered as foam. A needle of the appropriate caliber is inserted into the vessel to be treated, and the chemical is injected.

What is the recovery time for Micro-sclerotherapy?

This is an outpatient procedure and the patient leaves the office on the same day of treatment.

What aftercare is needed following a Micro-sclerotherapy procedure?

Patients should wear compression dressings for one to three weeks after treatment. A follow-up visit within two weeks to enable the evacuation of blood clots in larger veins can improve the prognosis and the appearance.

What are the benefits of Micro-sclerotherapy?

For patients with venous insufficiency, treatment can be beneficial by improving venous blood flow and limiting chronic swelling. For those with cosmetic complaints, their appearance can be improved.

What are risks, side effects, and complications of Micro-sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy risks, side effects, and complications include hyperpigmentation, temporary swelling, capillary dilation (telangiectatic matting), pain from the injection, localized hives, tape compression blister, tape compression folliculitis, and recurrence, vasovagal reflex, localized hair growth (hirsutism), skin death (cutaneous necrosis), allergic reaction, superficial thrombophlebitis, arterial injection, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, nerve damage, and migraine headaches.

Does insurance cover the cost of Micro-sclerotherapy?

Although insurance companies differ in their coverage and preapproval is always helpful, the treatment of venous insufficiency is usually covered for NHS patients. The treatment of cosmetic problems including spider veins is rarely covered at private cosmetic clinics.

Plasma-Fibroblast

PLASMA-FIBROBLAST (Soft Surgery)

Plasma-Fibroblast treatment or soft surgery method is a revolutionary method for a perfect facial rejuvenation. It is important to stress that Plasma-Fibroblast is a non-surgical technique where no scalpels or any other surgical instruments are used.
Plasma-Fibroblast treatment is an active answer to patient’s needs for beauty treatments that provides perfect look but is not based on surgical methods and there are no surgical risks involved. As you know, these risks are anaesthesia, stitches, swelling, long downtime, possible complications, bruises etc. It is important to have in mind that surgical methods are far more expensive and complicated, while the end results are comparable with the soft surgery treatment.

What is Plasma-Fibroblast and how does it work?

The Plasma treatment uses the fourth state of matter plasma. Tissues treated “sublimate” and we avoid spreading unwanted heat to the surrounding areas. The principle is to ionize gases in the air to create a small electrical arch, similar to a tiny lightning bolt, with which dermal and epidermal areas, which are affected by aesthetic problems, may be treated without spreading unwanted heat to the surrounding areas.

When the electrical arch plasma touches the skin surface, the heat widens the acne and is subsequently transferred into the epidermis all the way to the papillary layer which contains fibroblast cells. The result isn't con- traction and tightening of the skin cells. Consequently, the excess skin is reduced and the result is comparable to lift procedures or wrinkle reduction. Most, if not all, methods of skin resurfacing are based on creating a controlled skin damage, which activates its healing and this leads to the skin re-modelling and improvement in various signs of aging.

Even though skin layers get damaged by plasma in a controlled manner (by heating, fragmentation, vaporization – sublimation and coagulation), they do not burn off as they largely do under ablative laser and, importantly, there is no open wound during the healing phase. This is extremely important as this approach reduces the risk of side effects such as scarring, infection, loss of pigmentation etc.

After the treatment small dry spots – scabs form. They need 5-7 days to fall off and during this time the client should keep the skin surface clean (use Octenisept and lukewarm water) and protect it with cream which we will present later.

Plasma-Fibroblast works similarly to an ablative (fractional) laser. On a minute surface of the skin accurately directed energy damages very specific skin cells to encourage regrowth and renewal. This does not only improve the skin tone and texture, but it can also reduce scarring, improve a number of common skin problems and increase skin contour.

Advantage of Plasma-Fibroblast vs Surgery

  • No injectable anaesthetic require
  • No cutting of the skin
  • No stitches required
  • Very low risk procedure (minimal risk)
  • Quick and easy procedure
  • No thinning of the skin
  • Significant cost saving

WHAT IS THE PLASMA TREATMENT?

It is a non-invasive/non-surgical procedure with the same or comparable results as traditional surgery. Before the treatment the topical anaesthetic is applied, ensuring a painless procedure. This innovative technique cannot cause the so-called “overlifting”, as it only damages excess/loose skin which returns to its “original state” after the regeneration phase. You need to wait for 8-10 weeks to see the perfect results. The procedure can be carried out only by a certified specialist.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Plasma treatment uses the fourth state of matter plasma. Tissues treated “sublimate” and we avoid spreading unwanted heat to the surrounding areas. The principle is to ionize gases in the air to create a small electrical arch, similar to a tiny lightning bolt, with which dermal and epidermal areas, which are affected by aesthetic problems, may be treated without spreading unwanted heat to the surrounding areas. When the electrical arch plasma touches the skin surface, the heat widens the acne and is transferred into the epidermis all the way to the papillary layer which contains fibroblast cells. The result is contraction and tightening of the skin cells. Consequently, the excess skin is reduced and the result is comparable to lifting or wrinkle reduction.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?

First, the topical anaesthetic (cream) is applied, minimizing the risk of pain and numbing the treated area. The anaesthetic takes effect 20 minutes after the application. The procedure itself does not last long, 20-30 minutes depending on the area. The duration of the treatment (with anaesthetic application): 60-90 minutes.

IS ANY SPECIAL PRE-TREATMENT NEEDED?

There is no special pre-treatment needed. It is advisable that you do not apply any cosmetic products on the treated area (especially those containing alcohol). During the consultation you should mention all recent surgical or aesthetic procedures.

IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFUL?

Plasma is a non-invasive procedure with minimal level of pain. It is virtually painless, as the treated area is numbed before the treatment. After the treatment the treated area is red (7-14 days) and some patients may experience some swelling, which may last up to 3-7 days. At the site of each spot a small crust will form. They should not be touched and you should wait for 4-5 days for them to fall off naturally. During the procedure the clients may feel some discomfort, not actual pain, depending on the treated area of the face/body.

IS PLASMA TREATMENT RIGHT FOR ME?

With the help of Plasma instrument it is possible to treat various skin problems (acne), achieve the “lifting effect” of the loose skin or correct or remove scars. If you suffer from any of the above mentioned and do not want to go through a traditional surgical procedure, Plasma-Fibroblast Lifting is right solution for you.

WHICH ARE THE MOST COMMON PROCEDURES?

Eyelid lift (upper, lower), facelift, neck lift.

Resurfacing of wrinkled areas (labial, nasolabial, worry lines, smile lines …).

Removal of different kinds of moles.

Scar removal.

IS PLASMA TREATMENT SAFE?

The treatment is very safe, as it is a non-surgical procedure. It has a negligible amount of possible side effects and serious complications alike. The procedure is based on the natural stimulation of skin regeneration, so the excesses which may be seen in the world of traditional surgery are not possible. The Plasma treatment takes a very short time, with stress on the aftercare, as, in case the client neglects the instructions for aftercare, the treated area may suffer from: inflammation, hyper-pigmentation, scarring.

AFTERCARE

Aftercare is one of the most important parts of the treatment. Each client has to follow the instructions for aftercare closely to achieve the perfect results:
1. Do not pick carbon crust; it will fall off in a few days
2. Clean the treated area with Octenisept twice a day
3. After the treatment continue applying the aftercare cream on the treated area as long as it is sensitive or when you are exposed to sun, as it contains SPF and protects the treated area.
4. Avoid sauna, pools, solariums or any kind of exposure to activities which present risk for infection of the treated area
5. Make sure to protect the treated area from direct sun until the skin is completely regenerated (2 to 8 weeks)
6. Do not apply products containing alcohol or other scents.
7. Until the crusts fall off, you may apply colloidal silver to prevent inflammation.
8. Do not cover with plasters.

MAY I USE MAKEUP AFTER THE PLASMA TREATMENT?

Do not use makeup after the treatment, as it generally is not sterile. First 5–6 days after the treatment, until the crusts fall off, use the antiseptic product and the aftercare cream, applying it softly to the treated area. When the crusts fall off, you may apply some makeup if necessary, as the cream the therapist gives you contains skin powder which covers the crusts and the blush.

ARE THE RESULTS VISIBLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TREATMENT?

We have to inform the client that the maximum results will be visible after 3 to 4 weeks when the skin enters the third phase of the healing collagen and connective tissue growth. So the end results follow after 10 to 24 weeks after the treatment.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR A PERFECT RESULT?

It depends on the state of the clients’ skin and the desired degree of correction. The client is often satisfied after only one treatment, of course if, e.g. the wrinkles are not very deep, but due to the simplicity of the procedure the clients opt for two or even three treatments to achieve a perfect result. The procedure may be repeated after the skin is fully regenerated, so 8 - 10 weeks after the procedure. Generally two sessions are required.

HOW LONG WILL THE EFFECT OF THE PLASMA TREATMENT LAST?

The results of the Plasma treatment are permanent and may be visible for years. But we should acknowledge that the aging process is continuous and thus the skin ages every day after the procedure and this cannot be stopped. The results of this method are permanent, but when we talk about mimic facial lines (worry lines) these may recur quickly because muscles are stronger than the skin and consequently the lines recur. Average results last from 2-4 years.

THE PERFECT PEEL5-ACID BLENDED PEEL WITH GLUTATHIONE, VITAMINS AND MINERALSIN-OFFICE CHEMICAL PEEL PROCEDURES PERFORMED BY MEDICALLY TRAINED PROFESSIONALS

The Perfect Peel is a revolutionary peel that will transform your skin into looking younger, healthier and clearer in just one week.

The Perfect Peel can be used on all skin types and requires no pre-peel skin preparation. The process takes less than 15 minutes and is virtually pain free.

WITH GLUTATHIONE

The Perfect Peel founds itself on a key anti-aging ingredient never before used in a peel: Glutathione. Glutathione is the ultimate antioxidant, penetrating deep into the cellular level of the skin to fight oxidant damage and is the anti-aging answer to premature wrinkling. Our bodies naturally produce glutathione but as we age, our levels deplete due to sun exposure, air pollutants, environmental stress and the aging process itself. Glutathione is also proven to reverse melanin’s metabolism, lightening dark pigmentations.

The Perfect Peel blends glutathione, kojic acid, TCA, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and a blend of minerals and vitamins, including vitamin C. Kojic acid is a powerful lightening agent and proven to increase collagen and elastin production, resulting in skin that is brighter and tighter. TCA, phenol and retinoic acid reduce wrinkles and correct pigment problems, while salicylic acid exfoliates the skin and reduces inflammation. Alone the ingredients are powerful, but in combination they produce results that are astonishing.

To follow The Perfect Peel, you are given an individual home treatment pack. This pack contains retinol wipes and a vitamin C moisturiser to assist the peeling process and enhance your results.

The Perfect Peel can be used on all skin types and requires no pre-peel skin preparation. The Perfect Peel process takes less than 15 minutes and is virtually pain-free. The Perfect Peel is a medical grade peel with a pH of between 1.8 and 2.4

(depending on and if a booster is used) and must be applied by a trained professional.

The Perfect Peel combines the following ingredients: Glutathione, Kojic Acid, TCA, Retinoic Acid, Phenol, Salicylic Acid and a blend of minerals and vitamins, including vitamin C. All ingredients are present in less than 12% concentration. The anti-oxidant Glutathione neutralises the harmful effects of Free Radicals and actually slows down the aging process and prevents wrinkles.

Along with The Perfect Peel, patients are able to take home an individual home treatment pack. This pack contains Retinol wipes and a vitamin C moisturiser to assist the peeling process and enhance results.

Following are just some of the predictable results you can expect from The Perfect Peel:

  • Improve the overall tone and texture of your skin

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DOES THE PERFECT PEEL COMPARE TO OTHER PEELS? The Perfect Peel combines intense ingredients with effective acids to deliver outstanding results after one treatment. This unique formula allows for an increase in lifting of fine lines and wrinkles as well as a lightening of Melasma, sun damage and Hyperpigmentation. The Perfect Peel is a non-invasive relatively pain free treatment that entails only 5-7 days of peeling.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY FOR VISIBLE IMPROVEMENT? After one treatment of The Perfect Peel, overall skin tone and complexion will appear smooth, glowing and fresh. Depending on skin conditions, multiple treatments may be necessary for desired results. A series of 2-3 treatments applied once every 4 weeks will allow for optimal results for more severe skin conditions such as Melasma and active acne.

HOW LONG WILL MY RESULTS LAST? As long as the skin is maintained with good quality skin care products such as The Perfect C serum the improved results will last. We recommend two to three treatments of The Perfect Peel per year to sustain desired results for regular maintenance and rejuvenation.

WHAT SKIN TYPES RESPOND WELL TO THE PERFECT PEEL? All skin types (Fitzpatrick 1-6) are safe to treat and will rev eal considerable improvements from The Perfect Peel.

WHAT TYPE OF PRECONDITIONING IS REQUIRED? The Perfect Peel requires no preconditioning of the skin prior to treatment. Only those patients who use Accutane must stop usage 6 months prior to treatment in order to achieve desired results.

DOES THE PERFECT PEEL BURN? The patient may feel a slight stinging or tingling sensation which will subside after just a few seconds. Numbing takes place once the first pass of The Perfect Peel solution is applied. A fan or cool breeze may be used for the comfort of the patient.

HOW LONG WILL THE APPLICATION PROCESS TAKE? Perfect Peel application only takes 15 minutes to administer.

HOW SEVERE IS THE PEELING AND WHAT IS THE DURATION OF THE PEELING PROCESS? The amount of peeling skin associated with The Perfect Peel is mainly a sloughing of thin sheets of epidermis skin that begins around day three and generally is completed by day six or seven.

WHAT WILL I LOOK LIKE DURING THE PERFECT PEEL TREATMENT PROCESS AND POST PEEL? Immediately after the peel has been applied the skin will either appear red, like a sunburn, or darker. On day three peeling will begin. The Perfect Peel home care moisturiser (included with each peel) will reduce the visibility of peeling by hydrating. By day six or seven the peeling process should be complete and the results are visibly astonishing.

WILL MY DAILY ROUTINE BE AFFECTED AFTER THE TREATMENT?

Normal activities may be resumed immediately post peel. We only recommend avoiding heavy exercise and excessive sweating during the peeling process.

CAN MAKEUP BE WORN POST PEEL? The day the peel is applied the patient should not put any make up or other products on his or her face post peel. Makeup may be worn on day 2 of the peeling process.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED? The Perfect Peel may be applied initially every four weeks if necessary until the desired results are achieved. Thereafter, we recommend once every 3-4 months to maintain improved skin results, as well as, prevent further aging and environmental damage.

CAN THE PERFECT PEEL BE APPLIED TO OTHER PARTS OF THE BODY OTHER THAN THE FACE? The face, neck, chest and hands are the most commonly applied areas. The Perfect Peel can be applied to other areas of the body, but the process and the results will not necessarily be the same.

WILL THE PERFECT PEEL HELP IMPROVE ACNE AND ACNE SCARS? The Perfect Peel formula was designed to help improve various problematic skin conditions. Acne is a major factor in what this treatment is tailored to resolve. The Perfect Peel helps minimise the damage and scarring done by acne. The Glutathione helps increase cellular turnover to dramatically improve stubborn acne scars. A series of peels will be necessary to diminish the damage and scarring.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY TO RESOLVE ACNE SCARS? Depending on the severity of the scarring, a series of 3-4 peels every four weeks will be needed for optimum results. The number of treatments will also depend on how vigorous the layers are applied.

HOW WILL THE PERFECT PEEL IMPROVE MY SKIN? The Perfect Peel will help erase fine lines and wrinkles, reduce enlarged pores, help build collagen and elastin which will help to tighten and firm the skin. In addition, it will reduce or even eliminate Hyperpigmentation and Melasma. Acne and acne scars are dramatically improved. The treatment fights free radical damage to remove discoloration due to sun damage and even out overall skin tone and complexion.

WILL MY SKIN BE SENSITIVE POST PEEL? Skin will be more sensitive during the peeling process until the PH level is replenished.

WHO IS QUALIFIED TO PURCHASE/ORDER THE PERFECT PEEL? Doctors, Dentists, Nurses and medical spas.

IS SUN EXPOSURE PERMITTED POST PEEL? Sun exposure should be limited if not avoided before and during the peel process to avoid uneven exposure.

WHEN CAN THE PATIENT RECEIVE HIS OR HER NEXT TREATMENT OF THE PERFECT PEEL? 3-4 weeks after recovery (once the entire peel process is complete).

IS THERE AN AGE REQUIREMENT OR RESTRICTION TO USE THE PERFECT PEEL? 18 (advised) to 75 years old, those with any health conditions should check with their Doctor prior to treatment.

Thread Veins - Cherry Angioma Removal

Short Wave Diathermy (or electro-coagulation as it is sometimes called) is a very effective method for treating Thread Veins and Spider Veins on the face. A very fine needle is used to prick the skin over the thread veins and spider veins and then an electrical current is passed through the vein which is heated and sealed. Over the course of a few weeks, the vein withers and disperses and becomes much less noticeable. A mild anaesthetic cream is used to numb the area prior to treatment.

Skin conditions can be treated with SWD:

  • Facial Thread Veins (neck and Decollette areas)
  • Cherry Angioma moles
  • Blemishes

Post treatment side effects?

After treatment the skin may be pink or puffy in more sensitive areas but this will settle in a few hours. A healing process then starts and the final results will be apparent 4 to 8 weeks after treatment. The success rate for short wave diathermy to facial spider veins and thread veins is 95%.

Can you get thread vein treatment on the NHS?
Some people have highly visible small veins that have a number of names, such as thread veins, spider veins, venous flares or reticular veins. These are not varicose veins and as treatment for them is considered cosmetic, it is not available on the NHS.
What is the best Thread Tein treatment?
The most effective treatment for thread veins in the leg area is Micro-sclerotherapy and Short Wave Diathermy on the FACE, Neck and Decollette areas.
Micro-sclerotherapy treatment involves the injection of a solution directly into the thread veins with the use a miniscule needle.
  • Spider veins are small, damaged veins that can appear on the surface of the legs or face. They are usually not painful or harmful, but some people may wish to treat them for cosmetic reasons.
  • Spider veins can be blue, purple, or red and may appear in the form of thin lines, webs, or branches. People sometimes also refer to them as thread veins.
  • A range of treatments can remove spider veins or reduce their appearance.
  • In the legs, spider veins can occur when the valves inside the veins stop working properly.
  • Veins carry blood back to the heart. To prevent blood from flowing backward, they contain a one-way valve that closes once the blood passes through it.
  • If this valve weakens or becomes damaged, the blood may struggle to flow in the correct direction, and it can begin to pool inside the vein. Over time, this can cause a bulge in the vein that branches out, resulting in spider veins.
  • Spider veins on the face are often the result of tiny blood vessels bursting. Increased pressure or sun damage can cause this to occur.

Spider Veins vs. Varicose Veins

Spider veins and varicose veins are different forms of a medical condition called venous insufficiency. In the legs, both conditions result from having weakened or damaged valves in the veins. However, the two issues have different symptoms.

Spider Veins are usually small, thin lines that may be flat or only slightly raised. They are often blue, red, or purple. Although they can cause some discomfort, they are painless most of the time.

Varicose Veins are larger and deeper than spider veins. They may also appear lumpy or twisted and are usually flesh-colored or red.

Depending on their severity, varicose veins can cause a variety of symptoms. These may include:

  • Pain
  • Itching
  • Bleeding
  • Swelling of the legs or ankles
  • An achy or heavy feeling in the legs

Varicose Veins may also increase a person’s risk of blood clots and circulation problems.

Risk Factors

Factors that can increase a person’s risk of developing spider veins include:

  • Genetics: Up to 90%of people with spider veins have a family history of them.
  • Pregnancy: Increased blood moving through the body in addition to the extra weight of the fetus places more pressure on leg veins during pregnancy. Some women notice that spider veins disappear after pregnancy, but they can be permanent.
  • Being female: Spider veins tend to affect women more often than men.
  • Being older: The valves in veins tend to get weaker over time. The calf muscles, which help support the veins in the legs and enable them to pump blood upward, may also lose some of their strength as a person ages.
  • Being overweight: Extra body weight can place added pressure on leg veins.
  • Hormones: Hormonal birth control and hormonal treatments for menopause may increase the risk of spider veins because estrogen can weaken vein valves.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods: Veins in the legs have to work harder to pump blood up toward the heart when a person remains in the same position for several hours at a time.
  • A previous blood clot or vein damage: This can damage the valves and make them unable to work properly.
  • Excess pressure in the face: This can be due to forceful coughing, sneezing, or vomiting. Some women may get spider veins on their face after pushing during childbirth.
  • Sun damage: Ultraviolet light from the sun can damage the skin and cause broken blood vessels or spider veins, especially on the face.

Compression Stockings

Wearing compression stockings or socks places pressure on the veins in the lower legs. This pressure can help improve blood flow and prevent further spider or varicose veins. Compression stockings may also help relieve leg swelling and lower the risk of blood clots in the legs.

Types of compression stocking include:

  • Support pantyhose: These provide only light pressure but are available in many stores. It is also possible to buy a range of support pantyhose online.
  • Gradient compression stockings and socks: These provide medium pressure around the feet, ankles, and calves. They are often available from specialist stores and pharmacies. A range of gradient compression stockings and socks is also available to purchase online.
  • Prescription compression stockings: These provide the most pressure to the feet and legs. They are only available on prescription and come in various sizes and strengths as well as footless varieties. Prescription compression stockings are not suitable for some people, including those who have heart failure or other heart problems.

Electrolysis Hair Removal

What to expect from Electrolysis

Electrolysis is another type of hair removal technique that is done by a dermatologist. It also disrupts hair growth. The process works by inserting an epilator device into the skin. It uses shortwave radio frequencies in hair follicles to stop new hair from growing. This damages your hair follicles to prevent growth and causes existing hairs to fall out. However, you’ll still need multiple follow-up appointments for the best results.

Benefits

In addition to producing more permanent results, electrolysis is extremely versatile. It can help inhibit new hair growth for all skin and hair types. Electrolysis may also be used anywhere on the body, including the eyebrows.

Side effects and risks

Minor side effects are common, but they tend to go away within a day. The most common symptom is slight redness from skin irritation. Pain and swelling are rare. Possible severe side effects include infection from unsterile needles used during the procedure, as well as scars.

Aftercare and follow-up

The results of electrolysis are touted as being permanent because of hair follicle destruction. In theory, having damaged hair follicles means that no new hairs are able to grow. These results aren’t achieved in just one session. This is especially the case if you’re having the procedure done on a large area like your back, or on an area of thicker hair growth like the pubic region. Most people need follow-up sessions every 4 weeks to achieve optimal results. Once the hair is gone, you won’t need any more treatments. No maintenance is required with electrolysis.

After treatment, the skin may be a little red. This will usually go down within 24 hours, but it is important that you do not rub or touch the treated area during this time. You can expect some mild scabbing and a sensation that feels similar to mild sunburn. This is completely normal and will only be experienced for a short period of time.

We recommend that you stay out of direct contact with the sun for at least 24 hours after electrolysis hair removal, wearing a hat and sunscreen where possible.

Usually, a series of sessions is needed to completely prevent hair growth. If this hair growth is caused by a hormonal imbalance, the process may be slower but is still possible.

HOW DOES THE HAIR GROW?

When it comes to hair, most people only think of the hair you can see. The scalp, however, contains the most important part of the hair, the part that allows the hair to grow.

The hair follicle (also called hair root) is located beneath the scalp and has to function properly in order to maintain healthy hair. A hair follicle is about 4 to 6 millimeters in length. Each follicle produces one to four hair shafts, each being about 0.1 millimeter in size. So, these hair shafts are very small.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Does electrolysis remove hair permanently?
YES, Electrolysis is a permanent method of removing hair.

  • How many sessions are needed for electrolysis?

Electrolysis takes an average of 18 months with regular treatments. Most people require weekly treatments at first. Over time, treatments eventually become shorter less frequent.

  • Is electrolysis hair removal safe?

Yes, electrolysis safely and permanently removes hair from all skin tones. It is the only FDA-approved permanent hair removal treatment. Because electrolysis permanently destroys the growth cells in the hair follicles, the hair will not grow back.

  • Is electrolysis better than laser?

Laser therapy and electrolysis both produce longer-lasting effects compared to shaving. But electrolysis seems to work the best. The results are more permanent. Electrolysis also carries fewer risks and side effects, and you don't need the maintenance treatments required for laser hair removal.

  • Should I shave before electrolysis?

Avoid plucking or waxing for 2-3 weeks before, and avoid shaving for 3-5 days before your electrolysis appointment. In order for the needle to follow the hair follicle and more easily remove the hair, there needs to be at least 1/8th of an inch of hair above the surface of the skin.

Electrolysis safely and permanently removes all types of hair from all skin tones. Electrolysis permanently destroys the growth cells of the hair follicle, preventing treated hairs from ever growing back.

  • Does electrolysis have any side effects?

During treatment, you may feel some pain from the electrical current flow. After treatment, your skin may be red, swollen (inflamed), and tender. These are temporary side effects. Electrolysis can cause scarring, keloid scars, and changes in skin color of the treated skin in some people.

  • Is electrolysis safe for upper lip?

Electrolysis can be expensive, painful, and even time consuming: Removing upper lip hair may take a total of 4 to 10 hours over several visits. In some cases, electrolysis can cause dry skin, scabs, scarring, enlarged pores, and swelling.

  • Does electrolysis work for PCOS?

  6. Don't spend too much time in the sun.

  • How many electrolysis sessions does it take to permanently remove hair?

Several sessions: If larger areas are being treated with electrolysis, such as the legs or back, it can take several long sessions to achieve permanent results. Also, removing coarse hair, such as from around the bikini line, requires more sessions. Some people may require up to 30 treatments.

  • Does electrolysis work on everyone?

Does Electrolysis Work on Everyone? Generally speaking, yes. Electrolysis can be performed on persons of any skin color and hair color, unlike laser hair removal.

  • Does electrolysis work on dark skin?

Yes. Your electrologist looks for the opening where the hair emerges from the skin. They do not need a significant difference in between the color of the hair and the color of your skin to do this

  • What should you not do after electrolysis?
Avoid rubbing the treated area vigorously. Avoid manual exfoliation (scrubs, loofahs) for 48 hours post treatment. Avoid using heavy creams or any type of topical acid (fruit acids, glycolic, salicylic, etc.) or similar product for 48 hours after treatment and use caution prior to treatment.
  • What type of electrolysis is best?

Galvanic electrolysis hair removal is more effective than thermolysis, but the thermolysis method is faster, with the electrocoagulation of thermolysis working best on fine hair destruction. Third method of electroylsis combines the previous two techniques into what is known as the "blend" method.

  • What are the pros and cons of electrolysis?

“Electrolysis, like laser hair removal, still requires multiple treatments, but it is a great option for hair removal for those with light hairs. It is time-consuming, costly, and there's the potential for skin discoloration if not performed properly.
